Wix Website Builder Review – Is Wix the Best Website Builder?

One of the toughest challenges that new companies face is the creation of a new website. Many entrepreneurs or even established enterprises choose to hire a web designer to create a website for them. However, the current state of technology allows you to create your own website by using a custom website builder online.

The demand for new websites was so big at the beginning of this century that Wix was born in 2006, exactly to fulfill the needs of many by allowing users to create their custom sites regardless of their experience as web coders.

Wix is a simple platform that allows anyone to create a new website from scratch, using templates provided by the website builder and a drag-and-drop mechanism, which permits users to do whatever they like with all the tools they have at their disposal.

Furthermore, the site is widely regarded as one of the easiest-to-use and most effective website builders in the world. Does Wix live up to its reputation, though? We’ll be breaking down all of Wix features to let you know if it truly does or not.

Wix Website Builder Overview

If you’ve ever looked for a website builder before, you might’ve noticed how some features are specifically designed to suit the needs of certain businesses. Shopify, for example, is a website builder that focuses on the creation of eCommerce sites and online stores, thus making it a weak option for those who want to create a personal and professional blog.

On the contrary, Wix focuses on providing a solid website building platform for everyone, regardless of what they want to do with their website. As such, Wix comes with a ton of different features, options, and bonuses that allow maximum versatility while you meticulously create your own website.

The Wix website builder even supports integration with other apps, allowing you to create a fully customizable website without having to know a thing about coding. Simplicity is what has made Wix so popular and has earned it the reputation of being the best website builder in the world (and the most used website creator, too).

Wix isn’t perfect, though. It has some flaws that cannot be overlooked, such as the need to spend on other complementary apps if you want your website to grow quickly. In fact, some people even find the number of features that Wix has to be counterproductive, simply because it can be overwhelming.

Wix Website Builder Pros & Cons

Wix is definitely one of the best website builders in the world. Regardless, we’ve come across certain things that could be improved and would definitely make the whole experience much more enjoyable if they were fixed.

Wix Pros

  • The website builder comes with hundreds of templates for you to choose from, allowing maximum versatility when you get started with the software
  • You don’t need to pay to get the best out of Wix. Most efficient tools are available for free users
  • The site offers versatile creative options, allowing coders and not tech savvy users alike to get the best out of the Wix experience
  • Wix offers a lot of support to their users, with staff ready to answer your inquiries in a matter of minutes
  • The website can be overwhelming but it’s extremely intuitive

Wix Cons

  • Getting started with Wix could feel like a difficult process because of the sheer amount of features that it has to offer
  • You can’t change your template once you’ve chosen it

Getting Started with Wix

Now that you have a better idea of the things Wix has to offer, you’re probably wondering how simple the process of getting started is with this website builder. Wix offers full support for all sorts of websites. In fact, it has three different options to choose from when you’re getting started.

Wix Editor

The Wix Editor is an option that Wix has, which allows you to get started on a website from scratch. With this tool, you’ll be able to drag and drop text boxes, images, links, and many other website features by simply clicking and moving stuff around as you see fit.

This is the best option to choose if you want total control during the creation process, but you don’t know much about coding or HTML design. Wix offers thousands of features and creative options which you can fully exploit using this method, so not knowing anything about programming isn’t an issue at all.

Wix ADI

The Wix ADI is a tool that allows the website builder to create a website for you, according to the answers you provide to the Wix questionnaire. They will ask you some basic information related to the type of website that you’re looking to build, as well as other questions that will help the program determine what is it that you really want.

This option limits your creative ability, as you’ll be chained to whatever design the Wix website builder comes up with. Regardless, you can fully edit the final product to better suit your needs. However, this option should be avoided if you want to build the site from scratch.

Wix Code

Wix also offers a third option reserved for those who know a thing or two about coding. Wix Code allows users to fully edit and customize the HTML code that dictates the shape of a website (and how certain things function).

If you haven’t seen website code before, the first time you select this option will be a bit too overwhelming. However, tech-savvy users will have a field day with what the Wix Code has to offer. We recommend using this option only if you know what you’re doing, otherwise you could end up breaking the site’s functionality.

Wix Website Builder Tools

We’ve now established that Wix is a website builder based on the ability to give users the freedom to create whatever they want. As such, Wix has a ton of tools that make the entire software a goldmine of creativity. You can basically craft whatever you want with Wix thanks to all of the features that the website builder has.

Wix SEO Tools

You’ll probably want your website to be seen by millions of people around the world, so having an effective SEO strategy goes a long way into achieving that. Wix is the best SEO website builder that we’ve tried out so far.

The platform allows you to fully customize even the smallest lines of text – you can tweak addresses and URL’s to better fit your SEO content and rank higher in most search engines. You can also add descriptions to your text, which can also be tweaked to better fit your SEO strategy.

Wix comes with a wide app market, some of which also increase your website’s position in most search engines.

Multiple Templates

Wix presents you with a list of hundreds of templates when you first choose to create a site. With these templates, you’ll be able to get started with the platform and fully alter the images, text boxes, URL’s, and much more – all with the simple action of a left click.

Full Editing

There’s an app on the Wix market called Wix Form Editor, which allows you to fully tweak the shapes and text of your websites to your liking. The regular editor comes with a few default options, which are nothing short of amazing but might feel limited at times.

With Wix in-depth editor you’ll be able to fully customize your site to your liking. The addition of external Wix apps makes this website builder one of the most complete that we’ve seen so far.

Wix Pricing, Costs & Plans

You can use the Wix website builder for free, and it provides you with enough tools to create an efficient and professional website without having to pay a single dime for it. However, if you want to build a complete website with eCommerce options, you’ll need to pay some cash for one of their premium subscriptions.

In total, there are 5 plans for you to choose from. The most basic plan is free and offers little benefits, like 500 MB of maximum storage and limited bandwidth of 1GB. The plans scale up in price and available features, up to their VIP plan. Their most expensive plan costs $25 a month but offers a bunch of features that you can use to promote your website across the internet.

The most expensive plans offer you the chance to fully operate an online eCommerce store – be sure to hire their VIP service to get the full eCommerce benefits out of Wix.

Site 123 Review – Just Three Simple Steps to Create a Website

Site 123 is a website builder that has simplicity as its main selling point. The developers have made possible for you to quickly get a site running by simply selecting one of their formats, editing as you see fit and allowing it to go live in a matter of minutes. This is easily the easiest site builder for less tech-savvy users and a good all-around option for anyone with low complexity requirements.

Most website builders have resorted to drag-and-drop options to simplify the whole process of building a new site from scratch. However, Site 123 uses an even simpler method, which you can say is an assisted designer. You can input whichever features you want your site to have and the designed will help you create a custom website for you in a matter of seconds.

Site 123 also offers users the chance to try the services for free (and they even have a few available free template options for anyone to choose from), but you’ll have to pay a few bucks to get the best out of this website builder. It’s not particularly cheap, but we feel like their services are well worth it.

Site 123 – A Quick Overview of Everything This Website Builder Has to Offer

Site 123 revolves around their design assistant to provide users with a simple site building experience. You won’t be presented with some of the most complex tools like those you find on Wix, GoDaddy, or Weebly. Even HTML coding is fairly limited on Site 123, as it’s aimed for people with a lack of coding insight.

You can edit your site by modifying certain criteria on a sidebar that the site presents you with. Using this bar, you’ll be able to fully tweak your designed page without having to drag and drop any feature.

The program’s main goal is to provide anyone with a quick website. Businesses and independent users are welcome to use their services and the versatility is seen in the templates and themes that they have. It’s also available in a variety of different languages, which makes it a good option for users in many parts of the world.

Site 123 Pros & Cons – Should You Prefer It Over The Industry Leaders?

If you’re looking for an in-depth website builder with options to code and input your own settings, then Site 123 might not be what you’re looking for. However, if you need a professional-looking site to be created quickly, you’ve found your match.

Site 123 Pros

  • Every mobile device is compatible with Site 123 templates. They’re all fully responsive and won’t give you any troubles regardless of how much you modify them
  • Site 123 honors their mission to help everyone create a website by offering unparalleled customer support via all sources, but they’re very responsive through their web chat
  • There are many available apps that can be installed to expand your website, and they’re very easy to access. Some are a bit expensive, but they’re all compatible with other devices
  • Unparalleled ease of use. All you must do is input a few pieces of information and your site will be created in a matter of minutes
  • You don’t need to know anything about coding at all to use Site 123 – the functionality is accessible by anyone

Site 123 Cons

  • You can’t modify the themes after the site is done – you’ll need to create a new website from scratch, which is nothing short of inconvenient
  • The lack of true HTLM support and drag-and-drop features make this website builder one of the most limited that we’ve tried

Site 123 – Features and Things You Need to Know

Site 123 is a very peculiar website builder. Unlike the rest of the simple creators that most other competitors give their users, Site 123 completely scraps the drag-and-drop features, so users have to edit the website through the dashboard. However, this is just one of the many features that make this website builder so unique. We’ve made a list of other things to consider before using Site 123.

In-Depth Analytics

Site 123, oddly enough, doesn’t use its own set of analytical software. On the contrary, it’s supported by Google Analytics. Although one would think this hinders the effectiveness of the program, it’s actually the exact opposite: Google provides users with much quicker analysis, and the results are also much more expanded, given that many users usually come from Google itself.

Themes

The themes you’ll find on the site are ideal to be used by any type of business. As such, there are countless themes for you to choose from. We’ve noticed that some are rather similar, and most aren’t the most exciting of themes, but the used fonts and the color combinations/palettes are really good.

Furthermore, the themes are easily customizable, and you can even play with how many pages are displayed in your new website’s homepages. You can select to have certain pages show and which others won’t be displayed – it’s completely up to you how you want your site to look. The software will adapt the display to suit your needs and keep everything in place.

Great eCommerce Support

The regular version of Site123 doesn’t offer much support for eCommerce sites. In fact, it doesn’t offer any support at all – you’ll have to pay money for one of their premium subscriptions if you want to host your own eCommerce platform on one of your websites. Thankfully, the plans that they offer are extremely affordable.

We’ll be discussing plans soon, but all you need to know is that you won’t need to break the bank to host an eCommerce site in their platform. Their services are one of the cheapest we’ve come across when it comes to site builders.

Total Compatibility

Another one of the main selling points of Site 123 is that the websites that you create with their platform can be displayed in any type of OS. Site 123 supports the most popular types of devices as well as some of the world’s most popular operative systems. You should be able to see your site well displayed in Windows, Linux, Mac, and in any computer browser as well as mobile device.

World Class Customer Support

Site 123 offers support to users regardless of where they are in the world. You’ll be able and entitled to 24/7 customer support regardless of which plan you’re subscribed to – even if you’re using their free subscription. The site also offers cool tutorials that you can watch at any given time, but they’ll be happy to help you with any doubts or inquires that may arise.

Site 123 – How Affordable is Site 123? Pricing & Plans Information

Most website builders come with a ton of different plans and pricing options, which makes it more confusing for users than it helps them. Some sites include up to 6 pricing plans, with different options such as an eCommerce version, additional features, and other added things.

Site 123 aims to keep things as simple as possible with their plans, staying true to their ease-of-use business model that their own builder is based on.

They offer two plans: a free plan, which costs $0 a month but comes with a bunch of limitations. For example, you’ll be using a subdomain of Site 123. You’ll also get just 1GB of bandwidth and storage limitations of just half a gigabyte.

The second plan is their only available paid plan, and it costs just over $10 a month. This plan offers a lot of the benefits that you get from other website providers, but the price is much more reduced than what you’d have to pay in other platforms. Site 123 also gives you a free domain name for 1 year and allows you to connect your site to the eCommerce world.

Our Final Verdict on Site 123

Site 123 is an ideal website builder for those who need to have a quick site up and running, without too much depth, but also without needing to have any knowledge of coding. You can have the site ready in a matter of minutes and you won’t even need to properly drag and drop any of the buttons on your site – all you must do is input the information that you want and then edit the results using the menus.

We also think it’s a very positive thing that the site is constantly being improved. The developers keep releasing new features and updates that make this website builder stay competitive – even in a world where new website software gets released on a monthly basis.

Site 123 will always keep you up to date with the things they’re working on via email. As long as you’re registered to one of their plans, they will keep you informed of every new thing they’re planning to release in the near future. They really care about their users, and that’s an invaluable asset to have in the modern world.

Shopify Review – Find Out If Shopify is The Best eCommerce Website Builder

Shopify is the most popular eCommerce website builder in the world. The whole software that runs this platform revolves around the creation of sites focused on selling products via an online store. Thus, it’s not a good website builder for you if you want to create a blog or a newsletter.

Shopify started their operations back in 2004, given the lack of options on the market that offered an easy, simple, and efficient creation of eCommerce sites, which were already very big by the beginning of the century. Since then, the company has grown exponentially and now has over 3,000 employees at their disposal.

As big as Shopify is, not many know how it works. We’ve created this entire review after carefully evaluating what the site has to offer, and why you might prefer to use it over other eCommerce website builders.

Shopify Overview

Your Shopify website will be able to function with some of the most popular social media platforms in the world. As such, it could have full integration with Instagram, Facebook, and even Amazon or eBay should you choose to allow it.

What makes Shopify so special is the fact that you need no knowledge of coding to create your own personal eCommerce site. It would be safe to assume that you’d need to know at least the basics of website coding to properly establish a store, but that’s not the case with Shopify – all you must do is follow their instructions and your site will be running in a matter of hours.

Naturally, the most prominent feature of this platform is the sales features that it offers. However, we were very disappointed when we found out that Shopify imposes their own tax fees per each sale that your website makes – they basically force you to use Shopify Payments as your payment processor, which they have full control over.

Regardless, Shopify is one of the best eCommerce website builders, and many consider it the leading eCommerce platform on the planet.

Shopify Pros & Cons

As you probably might’ve guessed, there are some drawbacks attached to the usage of Shopify. Not everything is as good as you can get with the platform. However, the benefits of using Shopify far outweigh the cons, making it a better option for eCommerce websites than other competitors such as Wix.

Shopify Pros

  • You can fully customize the website to your liking
  • Shopify gives you the ability to set up an online shop in a matter of minutes, and you can have a professional website in just a few hours
  • Customers regard it as the best eCommerce option on the internet – even after having tried other successful website builders
  • You get full control of your stock and store inventory thanks to the management features included in this website builder

Shopify Cons

  • We do not like that Shopify forces you to use their own payment platform – some of the imposes fees might not seem fair at first glance
  • Although you can switch themes while editing your site, the content doesn’t adapt to the new format that you choose.

How Does Shopify Work?

Shopify gives you the option to create an eCommerce site from scratch, without having to worry about hosting it, choosing and registering a domain name, or even knowing how to code. All you have to do is register on their website and start building your online store.

The app includes a ton of features that will help you shape the store to your liking, which we will discuss later in the article.

Even though the app was created thinking of the needs of people with little knowledge about coding, Shopify still allows users to fully edit the HTML and CSS code of the site if they choose to do it. This extra versatility isn’t common in most website builders, which places Shopify a step above the majority of other eCommerce site creators.

Once you’ve fully created your site and you’re ready to start your business, you’ll be able to add additional apps to create a better experience for your buyers. There are tons of apps which are fully compatible with Shopify, and they allow the incorporation of many useful tools to your site (like order pings, live chats, notifications, and much more.

Shopify Features – What to Expect?

Shopify offers many different features, but not everything’s available to all users. Some features are only accessible if you purchase some of the costlier Shopify plans. It’s up to you to decide which of these features you consider fundamental for your site – you’ll have to buy a plan that suits your needs, but you might not want to break the bank for it.

Payment Processing

Shopify allows you to process payments using two different methods of your choosing. You can select using Shopify Payments, which the company widely encourages you to do, or you could use any other third-party app.

There’s a disadvantage that comes with using other payment methods instead of Shopify’s, though. These methods come with an extra charge attached to each purchase, which means you’ll be spending extra money to compensate for it.

Using Shopify Payments means you won’t face additional charges, although you might have to pay between 1% to 3% for each credit transaction that goes through your store.

Personal Customer Data

Your site can host different customer profiles, and you can freely export and import this data as you see fit. This allows you to fully manipulate your store and even move it to another website if you see fit.

Search Engine Optimization (Shopify SEO)

Shopify offers full support for SEO, which allows your website to rank higher in all search engines. Shopify supports the full use of metadata, alternative text, and keyword placement within the basic build of your website. This can be further customized if you know how to write HTML code.

Staff Management

Shopify allows you to create personal profiles for each member of your website’s staff. Each profile can be assigned privileges within the store, but the amount of profiles that you can create is linked to the Shopify plan that you’re subscribed to.

Shopify Payment Processing

Shopify offers various ways to process payments through your eCommerce store. In fact, Shopify is compatible with more than 100 different payment processors from all around the world. Not every country is able to receive the services of Shopify Payments, but you’ll always be able to set up payments one way or another.

External payment processors are supported by Shopify. All you have to do is pay an extra fee for each transaction, but you’ll be able to allow your customers instant payment from any part of the world. To set a payment processor, simply create a merchant account in your Shopify platform and follow the steps that the website provides you with.

These payments options are often referred to as payment gateways. With these, you’ll be able to redirect transactions through a third-party source while having Shopify do all the hard work for you and your clients.

We do recommend choosing the Shopify Payments option if it’s available in your country – otherwise, choose the best payment processor to suit your needs.

Shopify Pricing & Plans

Shopify has three main plans, and an additional two to make it a total of five. Their basic plans are:

  • Shopify Basic – Costs $29 a month and gives you all the basic tools that your new online business could need to thrive in a competitive environment
  • Shopify – Costs $79 a month, but provides many more features than the Basic plan and allows you to create and manage a business with advanced plans and reporting features
  • Advanced Shopify – Costs $299 a month, but the transaction fees used for external payment processors are much lower than in the other two plans, and it has an even greater number of features than the other two.

As we said, there are also a couple of additional plans that you might want to consider as well, although they aren’t part of the regular Shopify offering:

  • Shopify Lite – Costs $9 a month and has very limited options, but allows you to sell as many products as you want without breaking the bank for your website
  • Shopify Plus – A fully customizable plan where Shopify will provide you with a lot of extra features, ideal to be used by high-volume sellers. It costs around $1900 a month.

Our Final Verdict

Shopify is the best eCommerce website builder that we’ve tried. The amount of features and integration capabilities that it has put it two steps above any of its competitors. If you’re looking to create a new online store from scratch, Shopify is almost assuredly the best option that you have.

We do think that Shopify is an even greater option for people that live in countries that support Shopify Payments. The use of this feature allows you to save a lot of money on the long run. Regardless, we do feel like these external fees are used as a way for Shopify to push their own payment processor.

However, the number of benefits that your online store gets by simply being hosted by Shopify are far too many to be overlooked. It doesn’t matter if you have website-building knowledge or not – Shopify is probably the best website builder for online stores.

/5
